Dear Faithful Friends,

The Lord continues to bless the Radio Lighthouse ministry. We are still completing finishing touches on the new studio facility, and are pleased with the resulting noticeable improvements in our broadcast quality and consistency. Also, the new year marked the introduction of a few new programs, providing some fresh content for our listeners. An exciting addition to our schedule, “That’s Truth,” is a live call-in program produced in-house. This 60 minute program has generated much interest, as Dr. David Murphy, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church here in Antigua, answers questions from listeners. The program airs every Tuesday evening, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM Atlantic Time. Remember, you can listen online at www.radiolighthouse.org.

The “Ladies of the Lighthouse“ hosted a tea last Saturday to honor the fifteen Pastors Wives in our church fellowship. This fellowship consists of churches which were planted in the same timeframe as the Lighthouse, by the same mission board, BIMI. They of course have been pastored by local men from the islands for many years now.  We had a wonderful time of fellowship and were pleased to give them all a tour of our new facility.

Nancy is now in her 8th year of reading in our nearby local public elementary school. In the last few weeks she’s read a story “Buttercup Hill,” about two bunny families – one family living in the light and the other in the darkness. She then read the go-along passage found in Matthew 5 about letting our light shine so that others may see our good works and glorify God, which leads to the telling of the Gospel, which she then shared. On Valentine’s Day, with the Principal’s permission, she passed out 80 Valentines, which were actually tracts, entitled “The True Story of Love.” This week the stories centered on obedience, using a story about a service dog and a little boy in a wheelchair, followed by the little book about Jonah, “I Don’t Want To.” The freedom to share the Gospel in this way is such an incredible opportunity and we are so thankful for this open door of ministry.

In our Friday afternoon Bible Club we have been using some wonderful Child Evangelism material on the Holy Spirit: how He convicts us of sin, shows us the right paths to take, and brings Scripture to our mind to help us overcome our fears. The last few weeks the children have been extremely attentive and seem to be listening with all their hearts. Please continue to pray for these dear children of our neighborhood.

You may have noticed that the older we get, the faster time seems to go by. Certainly in our case, we are getting older, and time is truly rushing by! It has become necessary for us to evaluate and quantify our remaining time here in Antigua, specifically leading up to retirement. We are presently 64 and 63 years old, so we have begun some preliminary planning to this end, and expect to leave Antigua sometime in the next 2 years. Although we wouldn’t normally discuss retirement this far ahead, we also know that our replacement at the radio station could easily require about 2 years to raise their own personal support. Our coworkers, Nathan and Renee Owens, will be leaving on furlough soon to raise additional support for the Radio Lighthouse, but they will also need to begin recruiting our replacement during this furlough time. We are trusting the Lord to direct this search, including His choice of personnel and His perfect timing.

Meanwhile, though, we continue to joyfully serve here in Antigua. Please know that we are constantly blessed by you, your prayers, and your support.
In His Service,
Ken and Nancy Kirkland
